Handel 'Passacaglia' (Suite 7 in G minor HWV 432)

Following on from my video of the Halvorsen/Handel Passacaglia piano arrangement , here is the actual piece that inspired Halvorsen to write his violin/cello version - it’s the final movement 'Passacaglia' from Handel's Keyboard Suite no 7 in G minor HWV 432. Its a fabulous short theme and variations, full of drama and delicacy. Listen out at 1:35 for the variation that has a very great resemblance to the Halvorsen inspired piano version! I've included some time stamps guiding you through the piece and overhead plus score for tutorial.
0:00 Theme
0:11 Octaves variation and the quaver conversation begins
0:21 so delicate!
0:30 left hand answers and gorgeous ornaments
0:40 hands are unified
0:50 Drama!
1:35 the inspiration behind the piano version!!
1:45 INCREDIBLE chromaticism and drama builds
2:13 Passion and drama building for an Handelean regal finale

Louise, this was remarkable, as all of your performances are. So glad to see your subscribers have gone beyond 8K now. That beautiful smile is the cherry on top of this treat. Thank you, my friend. Give the boys big hugs and some gentle pats to the Ragdolls, for me. 🤗❤🎹🎼🎶

Nicely done. I love how it despite being in G minor has an upbeat sound (and on harpsichord it sounds downright jovial and jolly). I always enjoy listening to various versions of this piece.

Aha!!! So Halverson took a small portion of a much bigger Handel composition and made a pop tune out of it? (It makes a wonderful pop tune, I love it!) It's great to hear the source material. Excellent performance,
