Poor Stephen Hawking, having to sit there unable to move and have the torture of having Pierce Morgan be your interviewer!

Oh David! You're a knight and hero in our eyes.

Whoa I didn't know that the Late and Great David Bowie refused a CBE and Knighthood, but fair enough. You will always be seen as a knight, hero and "god" in your fans' eyes.

I don’t see it something to be proud of. I agree with Danny Boyle. It’s an industry that separates people by status. Which is something that is very driven in British society and the monarchy is a good demonstration

Paul McCartney says quite a lot of people turn down knighthood when they’re offered, so it’s not uncommon

Bowie should have been #1 since he didn’t accept any awards.

David Bowie should have accepted it, being that each different musical style he went through is a milestone in itself that few can replicate, but I can understand... RIP

Danny Boyle is wrong... he is better than most people, especially at making films and of course the hawk takes the top spot. Good list.

What does it mean to be a Duke or Earl? Teachers teach, nurses nurse, and judges judge. Titles are shorthand for long job descriptions, so as Dukes don't go out duking, nor Earls go earling, such titles are meaningless puffs of air.

I did not turn it down, and now I go around saying stupid funny things like "I'm a knight, so only I can move in an L shape." and my favourite "Tis but a scratch." lol I do not use my title much if but in a social setting.

This is one thing I just cannot understand. How did we go from awarding knighthood to warriors who upheld chivalry and fought for their kingdoms to awarding it to singers, writers and scientist. Yes, these people have accomplished a lot, but knighthood? No, this should be give to those who went beyond the call of duty, and stood their ground, fighting for their beliefs, their people, and who know how to fight. A warrior after all is considered one who is both sound of mind and body.

But that is just my opinion.

The queen handing out honours always reminds me of the Wizard of Oz, where he gives bogus awards such as a watch to represent the tinman's heart, a diploma to the scarecrow for brains, and a medal to the cowardly lion for bravery. None of the items have any value; only in the minds of the resipients does it have any meaning.

I’d love to receive a knighthood, if I was famous.
