Super fine spinning on a Daedalus Sparrow

I have Sojourner, the travelling Daedalus Sparrow for two weeks, so during that time I am trying to push her to her limits to see just what she can do. Today's experiment was super fine yarn. I did find the takeup higher than I would have liked, but was still able to spin a very fine yarn. For wool, which is less forgiving, I think I'd need to make some modifications.

This was very interesting. I will certainly never spin this thin, but understanding the process and properties of spinning like that do help me with my regular spinning.

Just came across that video. Wow, I didn't think that one could create a thread this fine. As for your thoughts on why this works better with the thicker core bobbins. I don't think that the difference in friction is the main contributor in favor to the bigger bobbins but the changed lever due to the dramatically increased diameter. It would be interesting to prepare one of the deadalus bobbins with a foam coating around the shaft so that the diamters of the both bobbins match. And then retry spinning that fine yarn.
Since the video is 3 years old it probably won't happen :-).

Never the less, thanks for the inspiration.

Is it possible to get those 3D foamcore inserts to fit Daedalus shafts?

How would this do with long-staple flax?
