I agree with you it makes a lot more sense to have it all within the vehicle itself without adapters.

Drew just so you know it’s more work than just splitting the battery pack in half. IN GENERAL when you increase voltage you don’t need thicker wires and you can save on costs that way compared to having lower voltage but higher amperage. If those vehicles want faster charging at Tesla super chargers and the only way to do is increase the amperage and decrease the voltage the entire high voltage system would likely have to be changed significantly if not replaced with completely different design.

I just checked out the Lucid gravity site. They show the port at the driver's side rear position, except for in the video at the top of the page which shows it in the driver's side front location. Also, the recent aurora green paint shop video in the road to gravity videos shows it up front and I believe the video showing Peter driving the first pre-production off the assembly line had it in the front. So, they are either confused about it's location or the first ones will be made with ccs up front and then they'll switch location when NACS is installed. Guess we'll have to wait and see what they actually do.

Model Y owner (100k miles in just over 3 years) here and hopefully eventually a Cybertruck, I’d never buy an EV without the native NACS port, the adapter life is an unnecessary complication/hassle.

Thank you for this video. It’s hard to find any information out. I currently drive a 2018 F150 I have a service route for Cleaning swimming pools. I am waiting to purchase a lightning until they put in the Tesla plug but just unsure when that’s going to happen. I’m also considering the option of buying a used lightning and getting the adapter depending on pricing, but I would enjoy the convenience of just being able to use the Tesla plug.

Aptera will be first with a native NACS port outside of Tesla.

The CT has 800v arch and is shown to charge faster at EAs than at the supercharger. I think Tesla should update future vehicles to 800v as this type seems to have better sustained charge time then the current 400v

Volvo are next on the list for supercharger access I believe? And the port is driver side rear. Looking forward to getting access as least!

lucid is going to use new wunderbox to boost to 924 from 400

Aptera certainly will not be first. Aptera has not even sought approval to use super chargers nor are they even validated to use any fast charging solution. Steve even confirmed that Aptera has not done any work for certification because they have never had a production pack to do their own validation and testing with.

It should be up to other auto makers to put the charging port on the driver side door where gas tanks normally are. I don’t understand why Tesla does not do this, they should make it very strict that says other auto makers may not adopt our charging port unless they put it on that side.

Not just the position of the charge port, but also other things. For example another big one is if we really wanna make EVs mainstream, other automakers that choose to use the port, need to have an easy plug and go system.

It is so stupid and frustrating that unfortunately the infrastructure system in the United States is just garbage compared to other countries, primarily Europe.

I am part European, so seeing both sides of this when I go visit family in Europe is very frustrating.

US companies and governments here just cannot seem to get it together. For example, I really wish we had a high-speed real system here. As well as I think I can speak for many of us when I say that.

Kia is making a vehicle with NACS now.

All auto companies: just follow Tesla. Let them set the standard that becomes the standard for all EVs.

didn't they say, Gravity can get 200 miles charge in 15 mins.

Does anyone know if the high-speed charger adapter is also capable of doing slower speeds? Would like to get one adapter for all tesla chargers. Thanks

Hope those non tesla cars fry their batteries using superchargers. We don’t want them causing longer wait times

I don't think all vehicles should "standardize" the charging port location. Standardizing to NACS is enough. I think Tesla should make their cables just a bit longer so every vehicle can reach it regardless of the charging port location.

Hyundai is about to open their new plant about 30 minutes from my home. From my understanding 2025s are set to roll off the line towards the end of this year. I would hope those vehicles coming off a new line would have NACS incorporated already. I have not driven their vehicles but it seems like they’re on the right track.

Do not forget that the CPO's in N/A have also committed to the J3400 standard. So why would the OEM's be obligated to the Tesla port location? This is a short term issue concerning port location. The CT has issues at the stall at some sites too.

Not related but is Telo looking into doing public fundraising like Aptera?
