Tech-Talk 52 Why the Equinox 600

Just a real quick rundown of the Equinox 600 - The good and the Sad of a machine that I dont use very much. Even though its on Paper the best of the 4 machines I own.

I have the Nox 600 also. It works great for me, however, one of my coil ears broke, arm cuff twice, replaced with aluminum Detect Ed cuff and my pod took in water. Fortunately all under warranty. The version 3 update has the F2 and a low/high back light setting. My Nox 600 came with wired headphones. The 800 had the wireless. That 6” coil works great for better separation in trash infested parks. My buddy and I just ordered the Legend, but I still love my Nox 600. Happy Hunts. _/

Hi Joey, another great vidmate. I raised the poor build quality of the 'nox' on a live minelab chat session. Only response was from a couple of users who had broken the coil attachment points. I think it comes down to poor design and a choice of poor plastic in the build. The price you pay for the 'nox' you shouldn't have to use after market items to support or repair it.

Joey after seeing others with shaft and coil issues I have been treating my nox 600 with kid gloves trying really hard to avoid breakage I have been fortunate so far, it's quite evident minelab put it in the control box, coil excluding the mounts, straight up it's the best hunter of my detectors, your points are valid, now for me if they could have beefy mounts on the coil like simplex and the shaft setup like simplex, in my opinion the best in both worlds, high quality and durable

I had a coil break off the shaft on a detector and I put about an ounce of hot glue on the spot then quickly stood up and pressed the coil against the ground in the proper position until it set. Worked perfectly. I love those Amazon reviews where people complain and leave a one star review because the metal detector shaft and coil bolt isn`t made of metal. "It`s all plastic!"

Nice vid Joey. Never experienced any of the issues others had. Had both the 600 & 800. Both went underwater in fresh and saltwater. A lot. Never had anything break. My only complaint, I could not hear the tone nuances. Very frustrating. Sold all and my XPD1 and bought a XPD2. Very happy to have moved away from all the others. XPD2 is a nice system. Hopefully try the beach soon.

great video Joey, had my nox 800 over 2 years no problems yet, i must be one of the lucky ones, great machine, just a shame it suffers badly with EMI

I bought the 600 when it first came out and really struggled with it. In retrospect I wish I had stuck with it longer but I couldn't wrap my head around hunting in 50 tones and the compressed vdi range. I often found myself debating should I be using park 1 or park 2 or field 1 or 2.. Then I found I was basically digging everything above 11. I sold mine and have since recently started using an E-trac and that machine has exceed my expectations - I don't think I will be giving that one up anytime soon. BTW Steve Detector Rods sells carbon shafts but to your point they are not cheap.

I feel Joey if you use that equinox more often you will become way more fluent with the ID numbers the target ID numbers on the equinox machines are great I mean they they really really show you what's in the ground a lot of times before you're digging it like you've been talking about that is one of the biggest plus about the equinox 👍🦀

Hey Joey, man just love these videos. I used to feel the same way as you about coil size, but you really need to atlases try that small coil. I have totally flipped on this subject. I can't live without a smaller coil now. I have to have one for every detector I own. You can bet when I get the Legend I will be getting a smaller coil for it. Lol... Now I will say this if the parks are trashy at all, "which most are" the small coul will shine. The separation is what is needed, trust me. Just try it out you may be surprised. Heck make a video on it.

The only reason I see to use a smaller coil is if you had the prospecting mode, that would be the only reason I would use it.

Oh man Try the 6 inch inch man. It wont hurt for a day at the park.. It will help out in those Emi spots. Should take away the chatter with noise cancel and changing to one of the feqs. I like R2D2 50 tones..lol But in the end you are right it is all detectors pick up the same amount of crap.. Unless we Cherry Pick those tagrets..

You said it Joey, the only good is the control box, it's layout and the performance. But build quality is just bad. 3 arms cuffs broken, lower shaft stuck, power knob of my headphone broken, coil ears very fragile etc. Almost no information by tones. Every object with the same vdi sounds the same. Sold my almost 4 years old Nox 800 just afaid it could brake down any day. Bought then an almost new Nox 600 again for a lot less money and i can say if you hunt parcs you want miss anything the 800 would find. Expecting next week my Legend with pro pack and if the performance is more or less the same as the Nox it's possible i sell my Noxl.We will see.

Detector ads got a real nice aluminum cuff for your equinox I bought one from detector edge and it’s great man it’s it’s really comfortable it’s aluminum and I bought it from detector edge and I got a Steves detector rods a carbon fiber shaft with a counterbalance weight on the back of mine and I got a heavy duty coil stiffener panda mines jam up and they make a battery pack now you can hook underneath the car farm it’s not that big and it hooks underneath there where the bolt goes in for your cuff it’s a battery pack that way you can charge that battery and a charged one of your metal detector also when you got extra power and either $42 and I’m thinking about getting one of them batteries and I got a real nice comfortable arm cuff aluminum from detector edge that was a nice oneI seen on the Internet detector Ed’s arm cuff I had to spend a little bit of money and I customized my my my equinox 600 but I only paid her 480 for an open box so you know I might bite that little extra money I spent I would’ve had to spend that without buying the open box and didn’t get what I got all my nails I customize mine the way I like it and it’s lightweight and it’s great it even looks good I got a custom blue one

I’ll tell you why because equinoxes got that shitty shift with that where you have to type them up and they keep loosening up that loot on that little but I’m shaft comes with them that’s why I bought me a Steve’s lot detector rods carbon fiber shaft with a counterbalance weight on it or the end you can’t beat it mean you can’t beat it with a stick you know I had to spend a little extra money and customize my mic I want it but since I only paid 484 open box I got I got what I want but it’s built it’s customized like I want it I don’t know I wouldn’t sell it for nothing I love mine I got it set like I want it they come in all different colors to

Thieves detector Rogers got the best carbon fiber shaft he’s the only one it’s got a pattern or the end up there with your arm cuff is that screws on we can put more weight on it or take the white out it’s a counterbalance that goes on the end Joey if you could bounce it on your on one finger if you can swing it all day without your wrist or arm getting tired with that counterbalance all the end my balance on the end of screws on kinda looks like a silencer do a pistol and it screws on the end where the arm coffee’s were the hallways and you can wait it up have your lighter and it’s great. It’s great he’s the only ones got the patent on that counter balance and he’s got the best detector rods out there I’ve had a couple other different companies detector Roger that I didn’t like
