FILM DESCRIPTION:
Alice and Jack are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950's societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank--equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach--anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia. While the husbands spend every day inside the Victory Project Headquarters, working on the "development of progressive materials," their wives--including Frank's elegant partner, Shelley--get to spend their time enjoying the beauty, luxury and debauchery of their community. Life is perfect, with every resident's needs met by the company. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in her idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can't help questioning exactly what they're doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what's really going on in this paradise?

the whole reveal scene was a rollercoaster. i was in the theater mad as hell.

If Alice is strapped to a bed all day, shouldn't Jack be responsible for changing her nappies, making sure she doesn't suffer from atrophy in her legs from lack of use? And wouldn't any of her friends or coworkers be looking for her? She's a surgeon, after all!

The twist is honestly more unsettling even on rewatches. Hell I noticed on a second rewatch pretty much *EVERYTHING* Jack does is a red flag... And we the audiences are so groomed by society by the action of giving someone a pass of doing something horrible because "oh but they're pretty, hot, etc." This movie is no exception. When I see red flags on someone, I see them.

This movie should have been written 25 years ago, somewhere between Dark City, Truman show and Matrix. Old fashioned script.

Honestly loved the twist in this movie and didn't see it coming. Was a lot like The Visit in that the answer was so simple and classic that my brain didn't connect the dots. Very refreshing. And the visual execution of it was entrancing.

So he didn't like being the unemployed stay at home husband who had his wife provide for him so he.... trapped her in a simulation so that he had to get a job to care for her and do literally everything to care for her completely on his own? I don't think you had to do any of that if you just wanted a job dude.

“Chosen wife” … “pre existing relationship?” It seems you can choose your wife and don’t need a pre-existing relationship with them…

Because she woke up strapped to a bed unable to escape lying next to her dead husband alone in a room that has five heavy duty locks and no one knows shes imprisoned in her own home.
