Evil Controllers In Depth Part 1 - The Not So Evil History of Evil Controllers
Welcome to the Militia Gaming Community. In this video I go in depth on the history of Evil Controllers. This is part of a 4 part series in which I am dissecting Evil Controllers as a company and gaming brand as well as a reviewing their high priced custom modded controllers.

Part 1 - The Not So Evil History of Evil Controllers
An Evil History
Let’s start at the start. Evil Controllers was founded 2007 by a 19 year old college student named Adam Coe. Adam modified his own controller by first adding buttons to the back that allowed him to jump and melee without taking his thumbs off the sticks. Shortly after he began experimenting with different ways to improve and modify his controller and over time with the help of a programmer developed numerous advantageous controller mods and accessories. In 2008 Evil Controllers began making their own line of professional thumbsticks…in 2010 they released the Evil d-pad…2011 the Adroit, 2012 the Controller Creator, 2013 the Vision Backplate…I think you get the picture. They’ve been living and breathing controllers for more than a decade. That’s almost as long as the iPhone has been a thing. Crazy right? Anyways, Evil has been innovating in the gaming controller space a while now and if you’ve heard anything about them it’s likely something along the lines of…. they make high end custom modded controllers but what they don’t seem to be getting much attention for is their commitment to making gaming more accessible. The original idea behind the Evil D-pad was to be able to re-map the ABXY buttons to the D-pad so that it could be operated with one hand by gamers with well only one hand. Since then Evil has worked with The AbleGamers foundation to create unique solutions for gamers who face challenges when operating a stock controller. To this day Evil has an entire category of Accessible Products designed specifically to make gaming more accessible to more people. This commitment really speaks volumes about what kind of company Evil is. They actually care about helping improve the gaming experience for everyone by modifying controllers and making controller accessories. Not exactly what you were expecting to hear right?
Modded controllers have a certain stigma in the gaming community because most of us are competitive particularly in the first person shooter space. And they can give unfair advantages but what about gamers who have unfair disadvantages?! We spend a lot of time thinking about ourselves and why something might be unfair to us but who’s thinking about gamers who face mobility issues or who have physical limitations? Evil is. And they have been for the better part of a decade. They want everyone to enjoy video games!
