So exactly which words from Coverdale just shocked fans????

"He remains married to Bron" (at 7 min. 30 sec). No! Gillan's wife Bron died in November 2022.

Every vocalist wanted to be Gillan :) Even great Coverdale :)

How is Ian Gillan... David Coverdale's 'band mate'?

What a horribly repetitive commentary. You make it seem that Ian Gillan was the difficult one in DP, rather than Ritchie Blackmore. That is hardly fair or fits the evidence. IG did agree that he contributed to the tension between the two of them but they were friends at the start. When RB left in 1993, the difficulty they all found with RB is clear in the film Come Hell or High Water and in what what stated on the Purpendicular album. When RB was replaced by Steve Morse about 3 years later they became highly stable and functional as a group for about 26 years (apart from that Jon Lord retired) and always looked happy. However RB in Rainbow had line up change for every album and is known to be difficult and admits to it. How is this video a story about David Coverdale JUST SHOCKED Fans About Ian Gillan.. That is a crap description.

So, Ian met Bron in the late 60s? Haha, definitely not. 🤣 Bron was born in 1955, she was still a child in the late 60s. In fact, Ian was in a relationship with Zoe Dean from 1969 to 1978. They had known each other since his time in Episode Six.

To correct all the misinformation and misconceptions in this feature would take a cleverer person than I. Just a couple of pointers: Both Blackmore and Gillan were fiery individuals, but overzealous bouncers were the usual recipients of their anger (both were arrested for fighting security men) rather than bandmates. And Coverdale, never a bandmate of Gillan, has almost nothing to do with this story. I think Ian Gillan is, or more likely was, a little disgruntled at one or two of DC's comments about the Hall of Fame event, and that's all. But the most glaring (no pun) error here is the assertion that Roger Glover, of all people, was the victim of Ian Gillan's wrathy temperament. In fact, the two of them are best mates!😄

How would Coverdale Know, he never worked with Gillan in Deep Purple. Also no comment on his relationship with the co-founder of Deep Purple, namely Jon Lord.

Wow, I never knew Coverdale said all the things you have in this nearly 11-minute video. "David Coverdale JUST SHOCKED Fans About Ian Gillan", You referenced Coverdale once and he and Gillian were never bandmates! they were ion the same band but at different times. Dumb video.

I never heard of all these complaints about Ian Gillan from his bandmates. The only thing I ever heard was that Blackmore didn't like working with him after a certain point & Gillan didnt't know what to do to make Ritchie happy. There was nothing he could do it seemed. Blackmore's mind was made up & Gillan left to do Jesus Christ Superstar. I know at some point there was talk of them doing something else together, but Coverdale was then in Purple by that time & Ritchie would soon leave & form Rainbow where he had difficulties with bandmates there. I always thought it was Ritchie who was said the be difficult, not Ian.

Just wondering, who is behind these kind of misinformation videos...

Everything in this story is as true as the fact that Ian met Bron in the 60s. 😆
Whatever Gillan was, I don't think Coverdale or Blackmore can blame him - as their relationships with their own bands show, they were much worse.

In my honest humble opinion I think Davi Coverdale joining Deep Purple was the best thing ever . The only purple album I ever bought was machin Head and someone gave me fireball because they didn’t like it . But DC joining was a transformation wow glen Hughes added backing vocals and the tunes became more melodic. I bought the albums with DC in and I have bought everything that Whitesnake did have done to this day

MK3 newbies (Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale) constantly complaining about Gillan and rarely about Blackmore, but Lord, Paice and Glover often sited Blackmore personality as a root cause of conflicts.
While joying the band on the peak of the bands career, they become famous, but I am not sure the band would achieve same level of creativity and popularity if those two would join in 1969. Today, in 2025, DP works on new album. What the DC and GH are doing? Beaching around about "cold shoulder" reception during R&R hall of fame indictment.
2.5 albums is not sufficient ground to call themself "great members" of Deep Purple. I have by far more respect for Steve Morse who spent 26 years as a member of Deep Purple.
But not even been part of R&R ceremony (shame on R&R Hall of fame)
