Just bought a new vw touran (I say just bought... Just recieved after 2yrs order) it's fantastic. So practical, so comfortable, real flexibility. 40mpg petrol real world from lively enough 1.5l and at around £25k high spec easily £10k less than less practical 'suv' equivalent type 7 seaters I looked at. Shame the kids almost grew out the car seats before I got it but at least I secured it before new prices went even more crazy. Yes it's a dad van but by this point you're too tired to care what other people think, !

I've been thinking of a 7 seater, only because of a up coming holiday. It's better to just hire one for the trip. Save a load.

What about S-Max and Galaxy? They are still available for purchase as new and price is below 55k. Would be nice to see the review of their Hybrid version 😊

This is my kind of video! I did so much research before getting my family Hauler. The final contenstants was C4 Grand Picasso, and Ford S-max Mk 1.5. The winner? The Max. For the money I was spending I got an older car than I¨d get with the C4 - however the re-sale value drop of Citroen in my area is unrivaled so that was a factor.

I cannot recommend the S-max highly enough. It's huge inside, great to drive, practical for the kids, got good sound system, good heater (important up north), drives like a dream both summer and winter. Do not get an automatic S-max, they self-destruct. Manual only. Get a 2.0 or 2.2 diesel - they are strong, economic and reliable (french - if you can believe that). The Eco Boost 1.6 and 2.0 petrol engines are called Eco-BOOM for a reason.

Well done Marek. Quite comprehensive, but here in Australia, our small population means car makers don’t send us everything. I’ve never even heard of a VW Touran and Dacia don’t sell here. I’m a Skoda fan and loved my Fabia 81 TSI 3 cylinder wagon. Getting a flat floor meant importing the adjustable boot floor from Czech Republic myself, but well worth it. The range from Skoda is so limited. Kodiaqs only come as 7 seaters, 3 spec levels, 2 petrol only engines and only a 7 sp DSG transmission. RS with a 180kW/370Nm Golf GTI engine and the Sportline and Style Superb (my favourite) is now only available as a 162TSI FWD wagon or liftback. The 206TSI 4x4 has recently been discontinued. No flat floor is available in either, not even as an option and they still only have the 6ps DSG. The Octavia 4th gen came out at the end of 2021/beginning of 2022. 4 spec levels of Ambition, Style, Limited and RS. 3 engines all with 7sp DSG. Again, no flat floor option with adjustable boot floor. Not even setup so I could import fittings from overseas!! Because it was to double as a country cruiser (800-1000km between capital cities I travel to) as well as a mobile detailing vehicle we opted for a Kodiaq Style with all the options except a sunroof. This is 2 “packs” plus a few one off extras like the electric towbar, rubber floor mats, mud flaps. Now the problem is, I don’t need it as business has been so great working from premises, I offer a pick up and drop off service. Skoda here has no resale value and are hardly known. I would like a Karoq Sportline to replace it, but as a trade it has no value from the dealer. They are terrific cars, but I’ll probably look elsewhere for its replacement due to limited “feature” options and poor resale value. Keep up the great work. Lloyd

I see the Dacia Jogger as a 7-seater station wagon.

I love MPV's! They are my first choice as a family car!

I own a Grand Scénic IV which looks and drives great! The combination of MPV with SUV was spot one by Renault! 👌

Plus, the 7 seats have allowed me to, at times, just use one car for family strolls.

Unfortunately they are a extinct species, at least in Europe... the closest we can get is a Light Comercial Vehicle (LCV), in passenger variant. ☹️

I'm looking for a replacement, with preference for a BEV, and what's left is too expensive or too old.

Can you cover the fact that some cars have offset steering wheel and pedals compromising driver comfort (ironically, for ergonomics). I found that I didn't have this problem in my Toyota and sitting in a Rav4 and CRV recently they're positioned centrally. However, my Audi is hell to drive for my hip - the steering wheel is more left to the pedals and seat. There are forums out there that discuss this but I've not seen any videos about it. Apparently Volvo's don't suffer from this problem - could be a German thing.

We got a Nissan Serena hybrid ( that is Japanese jdm car, quite common in NZ.)
Seriously difference space-wise with all 3 rows SUV that we tried is just stupid.
Toyota Alphard and similar 7 sitters just killing SUVs in practicality/comfort if you really want to use 3rd row….

It's a shame that so many buyers are allergic to the MPV/people carrier body shape - they are so much more practical than a SUV when it comes to actually carrying people and their belongings. The big wheels of a SUV eat up more interior space than people realise.
We currently have a Grand Picasso that we'll be trying to hang onto as long as we can. The seat arrangement is exactly like the 5008, so the back row is definitely emergency only, but with the middle row able to slide back it's a very spacious and comfortable 5 seater. Hopefully car makers get clever with their skateboard EV platforms so I can find a vehicle to replace it when it's time.
