Lyrics:
To the centre of the city where all roads meet, waiting for you,
To the depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for you,
I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you,
In a room with a window in the corner I found truth.

In the shadowplay, acting out your own death, knowing no more,
As the assassins all grouped in four lines, dancing on the floor,
And with cold steel, odour on their bodies made a move to connect,
But I could only stare in disbelief as the crowds all left.

I did everything, everything I wanted to,
I let them use you for their own ends,
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you,
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you.

"I did everything, everything I wanted to." That line always gives me chills.

I will never be able to get over this guitar. So longing and assertive at the same time.

Unknown Pleasures truly was a gem of the 80's. A lot of credit goes these guys creating an all new genre.

If you're watching this. PLEASE PLEASE focus on more industrial stuff like abandoned factories, grime, brutalist architecture, that type of stuff. Give us a look into what Manchester looked like in the late 70s. A look into the working class life where people struggle to survive and feed their families. This video is better than Day of the Lords, you're getting there. Stuff like Vonnegut's novels and songs like Frankie Teardrop by Suicide are what I think about when I listen to Joy Division.

Walking home from a party I had left in pain and anger because my girlfriend had completely ignored me to intensely flirt with another guy. Went home to our apartment, upstairs to our bedroom, which had a window in the corner. Sat on our bed with the lights off. To depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for her, moving through the silence without motion, waiting for her. In the room with a window in the corner I found truth. And was reborn, in a way. Thank you Ian and the lads for comforting the misery of that night.

every Joy Division song sounds like it's happening in a gorgeously shot black and white film

Still better than most music. The boys were 40yrs ahead of their time. The '80s were incredible time for music.

What an Album! This came about at the time The Clash and Pistols were at their peak.. Talking Head, Siouxsie, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Cars were driving the Post Punk Great Days and Two Legendary Albums from JD! Thanks guys!

Aquí está la escuela de muchas bandas, grupazo, post-punk de alto nivel, adelantados en su tiempo y siguen vigentes, larga vida para Joy Division👌

I went to the rock and roll of fame a couple times, the one time I went and I went up to Ian’s handwritten lyrics. Absolute chills I got reading his lyrics in person. May he keep resting in peace.

Melancholisch und sehr bewegend und gleichzeitig lebendig. Philosophie auch dabei...
