Great video about the incentives and the challenges of owning an EV without home or work charging. Thanks for also touching on L1 & L2 charging as well. I've owned a 2023 VW ID.4 for 13 1/2 months now, which I absolutely love. I live in an apartment without home charging, but I L1 charge at work for free daily, which easily covers my 37 mile round trip commute even in the winter months. I live in KC which has a fantastic public L2 charging infrastructure with many of them being free. So on the weekends, I can L2 charge for free at my local grocery store while shopping, eating out, going to local parks, etc. I also have very cheap L2 charging next door to the laundromat I frequent so I charge while doing things I'd normally be doing every week anyway, which makes it very convenient.

I know my case scenario isn't the norm but it works for me and was planned prior to buying an EV. I think if you pre plan before buying an EV it can be feasible without home charging for apartment dwellers like myself. But you just can't buy an EV blindly thinking it will be the same as owning an ICE vehicle in terms of convenience, without having a charging plan in place that works for your situation.

I purchased a used 2021 Mach E GT with 25K miles back in October for $36K and I absolutely love it! At the time, I was looking at Tesla models but also looking around for something I would really like and also something I would keep for the long term. And I hella love the Mach E!! BTW I'm a new member to your group. Really love the content!

Great conversation. Much of what you folks talked about is why I just bought my 2025 Equinox RS FWD now. I also agree that level 2 charging is important for EV owners. I had to upgrade my service panel, which cost more than I expected, but it took the anxiety out of charging.

Informative thanks for sharing and inspiring that infrastructure is getting better. We just need to have patience. I am enjoying our 23 bolt euv.

The deals I’m seeing are very tempting. I’m considering leasing for a couple of years and then getting my dream car. I’m not holding out for breakthroughs in battery technology, but improvements like cooled seats, a heat pump and a lower price for the GT for example. I’m also considering a 2025 Ioniq 5. When I bought my current car in 21 there was little choice for EV’s and that has changed. So that’s a big improvement.

I'd say… YES! Year-of-end sales, plus the incentives still intact, and the fact that 2025 models aren't that much better than 2024 (at least with my EV) makes it a no-brainer. But of course E'loon would want to hamstring the competition. He has never been pro-EV, just pro-power, pro-speed, pro-elitist, and… pro-mammon.

My HVJB just went on my 6/22 build date GTPE. 40, 228 miles. This happened 12/13.

The repair would have been covered under warranty, but was going to take 1-2 weeks. I decided to trade-in, got $25k. With X-Plan I got about $9k off total for a 24 GT with the performance upgrade and 0% for 72.

While I have no need for a 72 month loan, since it is 0% no reason to rush paying off.

Thanks, Patrick and Liv! One note on the Bolt EV... I wasn't able to post the review due to family issues, but I reviewed the final MY of the Chevy Bolt EUV. Even though it was the most expensive (Redline) package, its MSRP was actually lower than the MSRP for my entry level, base 2017 Chevy Bolt EV 1LT. So these cars do naturally get cheaper over time, but could you imaging going 5 or 6 years just to save a few thousand dollars off the MSRP? Our time and life experiences are worth way more than that.

How can you tell what the tax credits are for used EV’s?

It's better to lease instead of buying an EV!
Sad part is I purchased a used ( 6, 000 mile) 23' Hyundai 5, for $ 35, 000 from a dealer that used it for a loaner.
I still have an ICE Ford Fusion Hybrid (2019). I don't have a home charger yet..too expensive to have power lines moved over to the front of my house ($5, 000) !

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I got a 2024 blazer EV RS AWD for $38.5k at 0% for 60 months. I thought it was the best timing for me!

End of the year sales plus the added we'll see's :) Personally, it would take a Mach E with bi-directional charging to catch my interest. Quite happy with our '21's at the moment.

Some of the push for passing the incentives was that EVs were unaffordable to the majority of buyers. But now, I’d like to know if it worked. Do more buyers with incomes under the income limit actually buy EVs? Or are the majority of sales still being made by high income earning households?

I charge my Mach-E with Level 1 at home. I don't have to drive in every day, but even if I did, I would generally be able to keep up on a weekly basis. My commute distance is 50 miles each day I go in. In the winter, I may eventually need a supplemental charge. Since there are chargers at work, this is covered.

The F-150 Lightning is great as it has a spare tire, a heat pump, and V2L capability.

I look at EVs like I do computers. There is always something better just around the corner, and one could wait forever on that next thing. For 2 car households, I think an EV should be seriously considered for the second car. Not everyone will want one for many reasons, but most should find an EV a viable options for the second car.

My wife just leased a mach e, our first ev. She's hapoy to try lease for the ev, premium with extended battery, otherwise basic. She's happy for now and it was more comfortable coming from her 2015 Escape titanium. Ioniq 5 overwhelmed her and the backseat was not comfortable to me during test drive. Me, I'm looking at EV 9 or comparable as I drive an Explorer Sport.

Just tried to get my dad an Equinox but GM won't take the 7500 off the price, they apply it to the residual now, So that is not the deal you probably think it is.
