If I were a installer that wanted to get paid again to replace it when it rots out, I would choose the wood stuff too. It goes up quicker and rots out sooner, double bonus.

Checked with my insurance agent and cement board is 200 to 400 dollars a year cheaper than other siding because of the fire rating.

Smart side first generation failed misserbly and was taken to court. The second generation lp smart side rots as well just not as quickly as 1st gen. It’s a billion finger joints of wood. Think about it, smart side is junk. I’m a builder, manufacturers do not honor their marketed warranties, ever

LP doesn't cover termites in their warranty. Hardiplank does. Big difference in the south
