Used to work for Ubisoft, this is going directly against their anti-corruption corporate schlop videos they make all employees watch once a year (which has a mandatory test at the end to see if you get it, that you have to pass).

How many times have we seen people get review copies give a bad review and that person no longer gets review copies.

Moral of the story is don't trust anybody but yourself . I have seen way too many, , trusted, , reviewers become too big and become shills . With age comes wisdom .
I can still watch review videos but I will not buy a game until I see it release and see parts of it on you tube even if I get spoiled .

I've experienced this first hand with other publishers. It's so obvious and viewers can tell when reviews aren't genuine

No what i remember from gamergate, was journalist getting caught taking pay offs. Which did actually include gaming consoles. Then giving big review scores, for games that didn't deserve the high scores. Then the buyers of said games, got duped into buying them. Then they got caught, which is the part i forget in how they got caught.
