A little tip from an old modeler. You use the top deck pieces for support and put as many rubber bands on to draw the hul together. Also, keep a tube of testers plastic cement, the good old orange and white tube. It will actually melt the two pieces of plastic together and has a fast setting time.

Working on this model right now, I have like 4+ years experience building models and I thought I was doing something wrong. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with the hull parts! Also thanks for posting your build process, every other video I could find only should the parts on the sprues.

The fact that you respond to messages is awesome! I'm more into planes but picked this up at hobby lobby for 15 bucks today. Subbed

Yeah I have the same problem too with the hull not coming together and lining up on the inside the screw idea seems really good I will try it! Thanks for the tip! 😊

Dude you are a life saver! 🛟. Thank you for posting this. I'm just learning to assemble models and this was my first one. You have awesome information here!

Just got this model. Running into the issue of it being split down the middle like that. Trying to glue it slowly piece by piece. Might be able to create a stronger hold.

The masts on most ship models that have tripod like stands as you were showing on 26:45 Are always a challenge to setup. I had the same problem with Trumepeters 1/700 HMS hood and Hobbyboss 1/700 uss Arizona, so it's not a you problem, it's just tricky to setup in general i've also heard many other people say the same thing. Other then that, Great build!

I have the exact came model! I'm fixing to put duct tape on the inside of the hull and glue the outside, i have the same issue with it separating at the bottom. Also, the stairs on the back of the conning tower (if that's what its called) actually don't lead to the funnel, there's a small piece that looks like a balcony that's added underneath the stairs. II noticed it in the video when you showed the instructions.

I have this kit on order. It will be a prop in a production of Arsenic & Old Lace. Great to have a guide to its construction.

A friend who builds car models gave me this kit. I`ll try to paint it in the Pearl Harbor colors, and try my hand at putting on some photo-etched railings and other details if my ageing fingers can and handle it! A nicely done model considering it`s been around since 1957. Excellent build sailor.

A very detailed, intricate work !! A real boy toy! I could never attempt that, great end result. You did a great job 👏 love the music you played throughout! You really have a passion for these, they are adorable replicates 😊 ( USS Missouri 😉)You can erase this if the answer you don’t want out, but I’m assuming it’s ok, or you wouldn’t have dropped the hint!

I'm not a diehard model builder but I am currently building this kit. How do you mask the main teak deck so you paint it brown and areas that are grey?

Someone may have already mentioned this already regarding the problems you had applying white paint, but primer and adhesion promoter would be good to use before painting

What glue did you used? My 8 yo old order this on Amazon thinking it was a toy and I was going to return it but I figure I could make it a little dad son project and create some good memories maybe in 10 years he'll look at it and remember me thank you

Just watched this again. Great job! Was the grey Testors Battle Grey or did you custom mix?

Hello! I just started this model and I'm wondering what color you used for the deck and what color for the hull? I subscribed! I like the videos. Thank you!

I have never made a model before, but I have been thinking about trying it out with this ship. Can you please tell me all the paints you used?

I just built this kit recently and the hull issue is a big one. I glued the bow and stern together first. After drying I inserted the deck pieces without gluing. Then glued and puttied the seam on the bottom.

This can be a challenging build: the large hull halves tend to warp and twist, the casemate guns are rudimentary at best, and despite Revell's best efforts to update the 1931 Arizona to the one that was bombed at Pearl Harbor, there are still some major inaccuracies. Add to that some heavy flash and mold lines, decidedly toylike secondary guns, and of course, obsolete Seagull biplanes, and you've got a kit that needs a bit of work. Nevertheless this is a classic, still available at the Pearl Harbor Gift Shop today. Thanks for posting!
