It also probably has something to do with higher expectations from a child in China. Being Indian we know very well that we have immense pressure to be a doctor engineer, get a government job etc, I'm thinking it's the same case there. In the US, teens are not as pressured into conforming to parents pressure as much, so the very "dumb" answer of social media influencer. Just a difference of culture and thinking there, usa has people who are literally free to think what they want, while China wants them to think a certain way. Also, I really don't believe Douyin only has propaganda stuff, the amount of pure garbage I've seen be put onto Instagram and yt by Chinese accounts with thr tiktok tag is absymally high.
