Nice car. Not as good to drive as rivals like the Elantra N and Civic SI but definitely the better all-rounder. That can be fixed though with some simple mods and the Jetta is on the same MQB platform as cars like the Golf and S3 making them very tuneable. Thank you for another well made review!

Re: Power Seats
My enthusiast POV for a GLI is to purposefully have manual seats (lighter) for its intended more sporty purpose.
A Wolfsburg ed. or some higher trim should have the power seats.

Using the clutch, even in stop-and-go traffic, is not a lot of work. The GLI's clutch is not at all heavy. After a while, you'll find yourself pressing the clutch without even thinking about it, no different from pressing the brake pedal. And in stop-and-go traffic, you're always in first gear.

It's really not hard.

Always go for the manual when it's offered, which is rare nowadays.

Are you sure it requires premium gas? Wife's '22 with the same motor requires 87 and runs fine on it.
