In this episode, it's time to spill the beau-tea! We dive into the recent craze circling social media; all things beauty procedures and cosmetic surgery. We're talking specifically fillers, botox and buccal fat removal.

With the rise in these beauty trends, it opens up the conversation to some of the insecurities we faced growing up. Granted, it was before the time of social media (wheww!) because life is tough out there, with everyone being able to weigh in on how we look. We'll share our thoughts on building self-confidence, self-love, self-acceptance, and how these practices can help us find our beauty within.

One of the best tips I can give people who are insecure is go CONSUME DIVERSE ART! Growing up I loved all things art and history and seeing beautiful plus size women of the Renaisance, Greek statues with small boobs, modern photography with androgynous models be celebrated in the halls of galleries and museums made me realise that beauty is in everyone. If you are exposed to beautiful art with diverse people over time through exposure you start seeing other people and yourself as a work of art created by a unique set of genetics. As an artist myself now I am fascinated by quirky unique features, which is why I'm so sad seeing people getting procedures to look like a boring ideal of beauty. Boring because everyone looks the same not because there's anything inherently bad about it. I'm all for individuality and unique beauty. Love everything you guys are doing 💕💕💕

This episode started from very surface-level (literally) to taking such a deep, beautiful turn when you guys brought up the things that really matter - the values that come from within 🙏🏼😭 blessed to have a channel like this on the internet!

I 100% relate to the "wait until your 18" scenario. As a teenager all I ever wanted to do was dye my hair bright red. My mom didn't let me. When I became an adult, I only dyed the under part of my hair because I was terrified of ruining my curly hair with bleach. Now I'm 30 and have *never* dyed all my hair and love my natural hair color and will probably never dye my hair even when it goes grey 🧓

Love how down to earth, honest and open you both are! You both are truly inspirational to the youth and younger generations who are held back or even depress by their insecurities. I’m glad to hear you both haven’t had any procedures done and embracing your natural beauty and developing self confidence! I love it and I’m in my early 40’s and still could relate to this deep topic!

I love this video. I work as an imaging technologist in the hospital and I can tell you that we scan an uncomfortable amount of botched cosmetic procedures. Most of the time we start the scan and see the abnormality of the tissue and then have to go back in and question the patient until they disclose the truth about this or that injection. Also your face and and skull continues to change and grow as you age. Your body is a fantastically smart and complex system that adapts to that forever changing shape. If you get a nose job in your 20s or 30s your face will in time grow to make it highly disproportionate in a decade or two unless you commit to getting it redone. Its why I laugh at those “what updated face surgery did they do” videos because they often forget to attribute our changing face shapes and fat distribution as we age. I also struggled with insecurity about my chubby cheeks all throughout my adolescence and early adulthood but now that I’m over 30 my “baby fat” is what has helped me looking way more youthful compared to my peers. I’m a huge advocate of not disturbing our natural bodies unless absolutely necessary. I am in awe when I image people day in and day out how much our body adapts to our unique natural makeup and how much goes wrong when we disrupt it (in sometimes necessary ways) with surgery or intervention.

Thank you for this video! I could totally relate when you ladies were talking about Aisan beauty standards and how blunt or even mean people are to you. I've gotten so many comments about my weight, but I just don't care anymore. And like RuPaul says "If you don't pay my bills, I pay you no mind." Moreover, my doctor says I'm healthy. I love when people smile :) People's kindness is what I gravitate towards to for sure. And you ladies' cuteness😘

Love this episode! I️ have wanted to get bucal fat removal since whenever I️ first learned about it, but never did because I️ simply can’t afford it right now. I️ appreciate all the points you brought up about different stages in life and how what we don’t love now, our bodies will need in the future. Or even what people have done when they’re young, have come to regret. It changed my perspective and I️ feel so empowered to love myself as I️ am right now. Thank you.

I loved this episode! 💛 Personally with how “trendy” plastic surgery has become it has felt almost dystopian 😭

You two are so beautiful thankyou for taking the time to put this video together. I think like all trends cosmetic surgeons make money from people buying into them, knowing that eventually the trend will change, that person will come back in order to have it reversed or updated into the next new thing. Ultimately they target your insecurities and keep you as a customer.

Obviously this isnt always the case and I know that it can be life changing for some to have cosmetic treatments and more power to you. But as someone who has struggled with my mental health all my life I find myself feeling preyed on by advertisment and have fallen victim to having procedures done and then being permanently disfigured leaving me feeling truley worst. I think there needs to be more laws and legislation around these sorts of treatments being plastered all over social media. It really makes me worry for young women growing up feeling this sort of pressure and honestly at times I feel like it is almost a tool to keep women from reaching our full potential by keeping us constantly focusing our energy on how we look.

I wish we were more confident in our own skin, our own self. I don’t want to look like anyone else. I want to look like me. We are all so beautiful and unique. I wish that was embraced more. Love, acceptance and beauty all start from and gone from within. ❤

I’m glad as an East Asian I don’t need to jump into this bandwagon. Gollum’s hollow cheek isn’t part of our beauty standard we love our plump youthful cheeks

I never knew the things they shared about the Korean communities and families, which is why I love watching Ro and Fel! Even though some of what their saying happens with other communities too it is sad to hear that forces you to get thick skin because you can never please your mother 😢

I had a surgery done for my gummy smile. The gum were shaved off to make my teeth appear longer and less gummy. However, it's been 3 years now, my mom said my gum grow back to its original. I could do it again to shave it back. But no. Going through the process made me realize how conscious I was about my smile and appearance but people around me did not see the difference. My bf at that time did not notice that my teeth were longer. Mentally, I think my teeth are now longer and not so bad looking << It's just me looking at myself in the mirror. Also, since I'm older, I am more comfortable with my body, nothing to do with the actual physical appearance.
