Was looking for something more complex, as my ESC woulnd't reverse, but it turns out it is indeed just adding the mixer output.
My ESC (D-POWER AVICON 40A) was not reversing however because by factorydefault the SMR (Reversing) function is turned off.
Using the radio you can program the ESC. Very easy once i've read the documentation...why do we never RTFM ? ;-).
One thing i would like to add, the ESC manual warns not to use reverse with more then 50% throttle as it may overheat (with props on). So need to look into mixing this into my throttle output.
