Compared:Osmo vs Sony FDRX3000 vs GoPro Hero 4 Black-Is the B.O.S.S. System THE BOSS? Head To Head

This is eye opening-I knew the footage from the Sony FDR-X3000 was stable, but I didn't realize just HOW STABLE it is until I compared it to the GoPro Hero 4 Black. I setup a test rig to directly compare the DJI Oslo, GoPro Hero 4 Black, and Sony FDR-X3000. The Osmo is the "best" of course, but it's not an action cam. There is still some wavy/wobbly/warping going on at the edges of the frame with the Sony, but I'd take that over the vomit inducing footage shot on the GoPro.

Everything was shot in 4k30, and there was zero editing done for color, stabilization, or zooming. Of course in the head to head shots I had to trim the sides, but there was no zooming done-what you see is what you get. This is the kind of footage I expect the average person to get when at events, filming their kids, or general "capturing the moment" video.

Of course there is additional zoom/cropping you could do to make all the footage more stable, but this gives you a great idea of what to expect.

Solid Comparison. We use the Osmo for dry outdoor shots, , and the hero 4 black for underwater and situations where the Osmo would get damaged. Each has it's strengths.

Thanks for sharing. I'm surprised how smooth Sony was.

How does the hero footage look when using the iMovie or similar stability filter?
