Knew a guy whose father was a pro-wrestler, back in the territory days. When he got into his teens, he started working at some of the matches (setting up the ring, etc.) and got "smartened up." He would then find out the results of the matches, go into the audience and clean up on bets.

You know what's crazy? I didn't become a Maven fan until I found out about his YouTube page. That's only because, as a kid, we didn't have cable, so I was only able to watch SmackDown. In small independent promotions everybody arrives one or two hours before the show and there's a booker that according to how many wrestlers show up, keeps the ongoing storylines upper in the card and fills the rest of the card with the wrestlers that showed up and when he figures out who's wrestling who and what kind of match, which usually takes up just a few minutes, then he puts the card on a visible place where the boys can see who they're wrestling and start talking business.
