Sony Did You Forget About Handheld Gaming?

One coming out next year playing ps4 and ps5 games which you download too the handheld

they actually paid out for nvidia to make architecture for a new “vita” (idk what they would call it) that’s meant to be able to play ps4 and some ported ps5 games but it’s still early in development so who knows if/when we’ll get hands on it

I remember the PS Vita. It is a very impressive handheld, but didn't do very well due to the fact it used a proprietary storage format for storage expansion instead of just using SD cards. No one wanted to overpay for added storage; and I don't blame them.

sony had to make it more accessible w/ micro sd cards plus free starting games couldve made it more popular

A Somy handheld has the chance to do so well today considering the success of non-Nintendo ones nowadays. I’d still probably wait to get one just in case they make dumb mistakes like they did with the Vita (cough cough proprietary memory cards)

I love my vita you can easliy mod them to play all psp, ps1, and ps vita games for free.

I think Sony is hesitant to make a true (non-streaming) handheld because the hardware required to run the more intense titles in the ps5 games library simply can’t be made portable yet. Of course, the tech has gotten better since the ps5 release but we aren’t quite to the point of high quality ray tracing on a practical handheld console.

They didn’t forget handheld gaming. They just got completely trashed by Nintendo both times they tried.

Their portable hardware was amazing. No doubt. But they can't even have a strady stream of 1st party titles on the PS5. There's no way they could keep a handheld on the side with a different library of games.

Still play my psp and vita and they’re great emulators too. Vita waaay ahead of its time for sure. If Sony started making content for it again it would do well.

Sony handhelds are cool and they should bring them back. But Nintendo are dominant, and often for a good reason. Love ‘em both and wish Nintendo would reintroduce something like the 3DS as a smaller and cheaper alternative to the switch. And sony make an actual handheld, even just a psp rerelease would be better than what we got

They did.. We have the Sony licensed Backbone for the best handheld device.
