This sweet old couple actually walked out of the theater cause they seemed so uncomfortable. I felt bad for them, and hope they get their money back. I don’t think they knew what they were watching

After watching this movie I have a different take on the ending. This might trigger a lot of people but I think they end up together after the credits, Let me explain. Cairo and her teacher had a genuine infatuation for each other but not in the way she wanted. Although her fixation was on her mentor she turned on him because in her eyes he was an impostor of his real self and in a way she was correct. It seemed like everyone including his wife didn't completely respect him as a writer for playing it safe. in regards to his wife, was it just me or was his wife just an older version of Cairo. Like Cairo, his wife expressed the same desire for her husband but wanted him to be a little more adventurous but he refused to explore that side of himself and stay steady which is why he turned away from Cairo because he realized that he was wrong? Although Cairo was upset by the rejection she was very smart so on some levels understood that this weak, sad version of the man she desired would need to be transformed into what he wanted one way or and other. I think Cairo planned everything so when she confessed how she basically destroyed her teacher it became clear to me that she wanted to separate him from his current life trappings and release the writer inside and by extension the man she wanted. Not quite "The Crush" but a more nuance approach to the guilted lover / get him back plotline. I think the whole movie was his written confessing to the world that although his stepped over the line and used his position of power in and inappropriate manor he lied about not wanting to be with her and that is what she really wanted. In the finale scene it looked like after being made aware of his confession she forgave him. The tears in her eyes and the minimal smile she had implied to me that she still wants him and now that he has lost everything he is free to be he man she wants. I might be wrong but that is my take.

Just finished watching Millers Girl and honestly it's one of the only movies where I want more, the ending left me wanting to see more. Its a calculated movie that honestly is a really good conversation piece about professional boundaries etc

The real reason why Mr. Miller was fired was that he had the misfortune of running into someone like Cairo. He never entered into a sexual relationship with her, which was clearly what she wanted (also what she thought he wanted), based in turn on her "understanding" of his character from his books. His actions were unwise: he didn't know to keep the distance and when he agreed to her "project" of putting him as the character in her story, he was obviously in trouble (though he rejected her paper). She was obviously obsessed and turned vengeful when he refused to enter into a relationship. Any teacher or professor with such a student would be in trouble regardless.

Also BRING BACK LITERATURE. I love what this film did for the poets and the writers and the literature lovers. The language in this film is so rich and I really enjoyed that about it. The last movie that made me feel like that is The Green Knight.#MillersGirl

So at the end, did he and the wife separate? Also, why are they looking at each other like that at the end?

for all you people thinking it, they didn't have a physical relationship, Cairo told Winnie they did not have sex, she made that up to put in her short story!

#MillersGirl is basically a slow porn narrative drama that pitted Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman into some fake teacher-student romance that any porn scene I've ever watched. Also, Gideon Adlon (Telltale Walking Dead 4) is just there for filler in this movie for nothing.

Cairo’s parents were never around. With no parents present, she attached herself to someone older and who she admired. Yes, it was inappropriate and everything you said in this video is true.

millers girl is one of those movies that you don’t like if you don’t understand the complexities of a teenage girls emotions. this is through the eyes of a teenage girl who believes that her and her teacher that she’s bonded with on a personal level is someone she may love—

Hell, I loved Married with Children, still do. Katey Sagal and Ed O'Neill were the perfect matchup for that show. Could NEVER get that greenlit to even shoot a pilot today. However, be it 2004 or 2024 pedophilia wasn't something that was really 'acceptable'. Also, being that she's 18 (character) doesn't mean the guy has pedo like tendencies. They are two consenting adults (minus the teacher/student dynamic in this specific movie).

I was going to put something about adult actresses being 18/19 with much older men, but then something hit me. I never do see any outrage or hear anything when it's the 40+ yo mom and "the pool boy." Hell all the moms in their late 30's going nuts over Billy in 'Stranger Things', he was only 18yo. I guess I just don't see how 18/19 high school is breaking suspension of disbelief. While on the other hand 18/19 & a freshman in college would keep you there (not attacking).

The movie condemns being a teacher and education. Basically teachers are the lowest of the low according to this film.

Miller's girl is one of those movies when watched should be wiped and forgotten from memory and never know it was ever made to begin with not because of the controversial so called sex scene for the fact this movie sucked so bad it is not worth remembering

Millers girl was tried to be unsettling so bad but the only thing unsettling about that movie was how monotonous jenna ortega is

I mean… yeah… but it's 2024 not 2004. Some things are no longer acceptable to some people. Like pedophilia

Yes she's 18 but if she's still sitting at the cafeteria lunch table and the dude is pushing 50 or 60, it's someone's pedophilic fantasy on screen

Doesn't make it much better with her being a year older in college, yeah, but at least the joke from the wife wouldn't have been so off putting. It broke my suspension of disbelief.

im watching millers girl, and why do actors even agree to making movies like this? this movie just didn't need to be made. on top of that, martin freeman is apparently a terrible person, and jenna ortega's acting is so hard to appreciate as authentic. im not watching the rest 🖕
