Liquid Culture (w/o pressure cooking)

Показать описание
Results of my 2021 (Pink oyster) liquid culture experiment.

All I did to make this culture was:

1. Sanitize the bottle/lid
2. Boil 2tbsp of honey in spring water
3. Funnel it into the bottle
4. Let it cool (unsealed) to around 80°f
4. Add a small chunk of mycelium
5. Seal and shake it
6. Wait

Quick, simple, and successful.
Thanks for watching

p.s. the brown spots floating in the liquid are just bits of sawdust from the kit I recycled :)

good job, your the closest at the honey and water culture, i have come across to being right, little hint for you, don't put liquid in fridge, pink oyster hate cold weather, honey has it own antibacterial so cooking it is not needed, just make shore the water you use is clean, honey 40g + water 1L = THE BOMB. Keep up the good work mate.

Awesome job, keep up the great work. My wife and I look forward to seeing more of your work. Also we would be happy to trade liquid cultures with you. We have a huge variety of gourmet cultures. We just happen to need a new pink oyster and shaggy mane.

As a professional mycologist the turbidity of the LC suggests you have bacteria coexisting with your mycelium, oysters are pretty aggressive and can survive with other contamination mixed in but the moment you put this to grain you will see the problem, not saying it can’t be done but when using atmospheric pressure to sterilize your cook time is usually 9x more then if pressure cooked so you would need to boil for approximately 2.5 - 3 hours

I put my in the oven for 1 hour at 275 and then add mycelium using water and corn syrup hasn't failed get

How do you know that you are growing mycelium and not contamination? I was told that sometimes both looks similar and how do you store the mycelium from pink oyster in winter ? Since is a tropical variety and doesn’t have tolerance with cold temperatures

Have you inoculated anything with this yet? I'm reasonably concerned about contamination
