i like that steven universe can organically show the LGBT community without forcing the issue or making it a big deal. Ruby and Sapphire are a gay couple, shep is non binary, and it doesn’t distract the viewer away from the show, it’s just apart

Honestly I really like how they didn’t go the Sadie and Lars route, even though it has built up since the beginning. It shows that they have their own lives and interests and sometimes it just doesn’t work out like that no matter how good they are together.

I really like Shep. Yes I was very into the LarsxSadie thing and was sad they weren't endgame, and maybe that was just me projecting my own lost romantic partners. But really the two live such vastly different lives and have different wants and drives that it makes sense they aren't together and have found people who compliment their lifestyles. Cartoons typically are stuck in an everlasting no further consequence loop and seeing SU break that is very relatable and nice.
