What to focus on as an older cyclist.

Want to get faster or remain fast on your bike as you get older. Train in a way that arrests the ageing process that makes you slower. Top tips: Strength train, perform higher intensity training sessions, respect recovery, eat a higher protein diet and focus carbohydrates around higher intensity days. The way I look at it is cyclists get slower because they don train in a way that makes them fast. Older cyclists often think they need to slow down do less but in reality they need to work smarter to fight off the age related decline. It can be done. You just need to work at it and be consistent.
