DCS Combined Arms gameplay: A quick town capture with Air Support

A very brief look at DCS Combined Arms gameplay. With the tactical map you can control ground and air units to achieve objectives. Take control of ground units first person! Blow stuff. Get blown up. Yay.

Note that the AI enemy isn't very advanced. They won't do much of anything without it being programmed into the mission. Also trees are not hard surfaces so you can driver or fly right through them. This IS pretty common in flight sims but one major pitfall is that the AI can SEE and SHOOT straight through the trees while you're wondering what the hell is going on. You might want to consider turning trees off to make it a bit fairer against the AI.

For those considering DCS:CA I would look at multiplayer first. If you play online with friends then this module will give you a really good game experience. You can get friends to fly and support you from the air.

You can also fly and use the tactical map to direct ground forces, just by purchasing the DCS:CA module.

For those who don't know Graviteam made the tank simulation game Steel Armor and the RTT/TBS game series Graviteam Tactics

Would have been really cool to have airborne forces in the game. Imagine doing a mass parachute assault on airfields and near cities. We love to see air assault (helo insertions) as well.

I'm gonna post in the forums and hopefully someone sees it. How cool would it be to have a number of C-17 or C-130 aircraft packed with paratroopers parachuting unto an objective and you supporting them. Watching your vid got me to thinking about that and the whole idea is to make the game even more realistic and give players more options in the editor. They could even add Chinooks and Blackhawks for troop transports as well. Just more stuff for mission editors, which is what I like to do a lot.

Hi, PoorOldSpike in Plymouth UK here, I bought CA recently but am a bit fed up because I can't find a way in my single-player created missions to make the AI enemy ground units start in a random location each time i crank up the mission so that I won't know which direction they're coming from, and each game will therefore be refreshingly different and unpredictable.
Is such randomness possible in some way?

I have an i7 950 @ 3.8ghz and a GTX 680 4GB card. You can get away with a mid to high end PC no problems. Don't worry about SLI or Crossfire though. A good CPU and single GPU is the way to go.
