Basic Jazz Conception for Saxophone by Lennie Niehaus (Vol. 1) - Introduction
Показать описание
This book, written in 1966 (!) is the first ever written book about jazz phrasing and articulation for saxophonists, as much as I know. Nowadays it comes with a CD, but after 20 years of teaching experience I have to say that the music on that is recorded too fast. Most students who are interested in the techniques provided by this book need it to be slower.
This is why I have created this playlist for you. I played those exercises in 100 bpm instead of 120, with different drum grooves, that underline the different parts of the measure that the exercises focus on. I hope you have fun playing along with me!
In this introduction you can learn more about me and why and how I did this.

Lorenz Hargassner - alto saxophone
The tempo is 100 beats per minute. Practice in 50 bpm, putting the metronome-clicks on beats 2 and 4 of every measure. Then you can get faster and play with the CD that comes with the book.
My Setup:
Vandoren V16 A5M Mouthpiece
Vandoren ZZ # 3.5 Reeds
Vandoren Optimum Ligature
Selmer Super Balanced Action Alto Saxophone (1948)
