Mac Davis stealing Rolling Stones licks..

"One Hell of a Woman" is a 1974 song (see 1974 in music) by the American singer-songwriter Mac Davis. The song was written by Davis and Mark James.

Released as a single from his album of the same name the song became Davis' second Top 20 hit on the U.S. pop chart, where it peaked at #11 in the fall of 1974. The song remained in the Top 40 for ten weeks. Unusually for Davis, the song did not chart on the American country charts.

R.I.P., Mac. You were one helluva song writer, especially to those of us growing up in the early 1970s who didn't care what label was put on a song - as long as the song was good.

Can't believe we've lost Mac AND Helen Reddy on the same day. September 29, 2020 will be a black day for fans of '70s pop. :(

As we sat in a Las Vegas lounge, awaiting our job interviews for an car ad agency, the ad exec introduced us to his friend who was in town for an upcoming performance. I remember staring at the bluest eyes and headful of Botticelli curls. I was smitten, and then he spoke.... pure southern honey rolled off that tongue. It wasn't until days later, when we bumped into each other, that I learned blue-eyes name. Thanks for the music and thanks for all the memories, Mac!

I grew up listening to Mac Davis on my parents 8 track player in their car. it's wonderful when you can actually hear the words of a song.

#10 on Billboard’s top 100 for 1974. I listened to radio a lot back then. First time I’ve ever heard this song.

One hell of a song from the Summer of 1974. And being 18 then made it one hell of a summer with a hell of a lot of good music. Memories…

Mac always knew how to write the lyrics and say the right things in a song to make it unforgettable. RIP Mac.

Mac was part of my growing up years. I think back now and remember the feeling I'd get when I'd listen to his songs. I always wished someone would think about me in that way. Always loved his music. Sad that all the greats are leaving us. Rest in peace, Mac. Thanks for bringing us your talent and all your music. It means as much to me now as it did in 1974.

Nana and Grampa used to have a cottage up at Lake Winnolla in Pennsylvania and this was one of the songs on the jukebox at the bar restaurant up that way. God...I miss them...and Mom. Fck..I got myself sad now.

Been married to my hell of a woman for 42 years, we met in CA just before I got out of the Navy. Good looking, strong, tough and my woman. I don't know if I'm a hell of a man, but I have done real man work all my life and she respects me for that. I'm a hell of a lucky man
