Scientists have discovered a six-planet solar system in the Milky Way that astronomers say has been untouched by outside forces since its birth billions of years ago. The six planets orbit a star "perfectly" in sync. Derrick Pitts, chief astronomer at the Franklin Institute, joined CBS News to talk about the discovery.

Really appreciate how precise Dr. Pitts was in his explanations of what is speculation & what is direct observation. Good science made manifest!

The 'scientist' never explained what 'in-sync' means, so the reporter takes over. lol

So if its 100 lightyears away, we arent seeing the solar system as it currently is but how it use to be?

Let's not forget, the James Webb telescope has recently proven we know less than we thought we knew about our universe, scientists should probably take their time trying to explain this new discovery. Absolutely fascinating how eerily in sync these planets orbit the star, can't wait to see what we find next

I prefer the Backstreet solar systems to in sync ones.

Would be good to know what type of star it is. Not to say another class of star could accommodate life, but another yellow dwarf such as ours would be exciting.

I’m not sure if the visual on the screen is helping us imagine the topic at hand.

we don't know what's at the bottom of our oceans on earth, but we do know the layout of the land 600 trillion miles away.

1 light year equals 6 Trillion miles….How does that supposed to look like? Our human minds can’t comprehend it.

George Santos will be studying the phenomenon soon after he finishes his 43rd dissertation at Harvard.
