Dave is really into his gravel riding and liked the OPEN UP. So he seemed like the perfect man to test the new OPEN WI.DE.

Nice review. Bought one 2 years ago. Smoothest ride I have ever been on and love the versatility of the bike and range of tire sizes you can run. Makes it a great bike year round.

Great review as always! Please just keep in mind that despite all the efforts of bike brands to connect bb stiffness and performance, there's no evidence to back it.

With Open now offering this WI.DE as a complete setup at $5900. I find that it for the most part falls in line with a lot of other major manufactures maybe $1000 difference in some cases or carbon wheels but when you are talking 5K USD for a bike an extra 1K doesn’t get you too far. Trek has the checkpoint SL 7 for $5999 granted it has carbon wheels but I still don’t think that is as good looking as this thing! The new Canyon grail 8.0 is pretty amazing coming in at 5K USD!

Hidden feature: when you ride the Open WI.DE with purple socks, they change color (0:12) ;-)

Thanks for the video. DO you have an idea of the max weight supported by this build?. Any recommendations when using bikepacking bags with this bike?

Gravel bike chosen wider and wider tyres now. If they really need these size, we can try to customize with good crabon mountain frame. Geometry would be different. but It can be another option for someone. It will be chepaer than new-road-gravel frame

fabulous bike. For my money Open make the best gravel/adventure frames. The rest is up to the individual so you get exactly the bike you want. Genius.

A very handsome bike, for sure. Is it more handsome than My Salsa WarBird 2019? No. More handsome than the Norco Search XR? No. The Forme Monsal? No. There's a few dozens of equally as beautiful (or almost) carbon gravel bikes, qualitatively comparable to the Open WIDE, yet considerably more affordable - from the £600, - Holdsworth Mystique frame to Salsa WarBird, Norco Search XR, Forme Monsal, Ghost Road Rage -series, Genesis Datum and many others...
Then, there's the omission of rack (and mudguard?) mounts on the Open bikes - something the Holdsworth Mystique, the Salsa, Norco, the Ghost Endless Road Rage and many others have.

What is it with the dropped bent chain stay that will probably add weight and/or make it weaker.

This bike makes John Tomac look like he had travelled back in time to the 90's

I'll be a bit controversial and suggest that many brands who are basically marketing companies that sell cycling products, Open being an example. How can this be 3k? If you have that money to burn on a frame-set go handmade for the joy of ownership but be very careful splashing a load of cash on a bike for UK gravel/mixed surface. The riding here hammers equipment.

$3600 for the frame? Yeah i don't need to be watching this. Nice looking bike but thats not even close to my price range.

Why do all the recent bikes force people to LEAN OVER while riding

Why is the handle bars not raised ?

Why would pressfit be seen as a performance upgrade? Just asking for a friend, cheers.

Can you test the 2020 All-City Gorilla Monsoon, which has been doing 27.5x2.5 for a few years now. It's fully steel, and fully fun!

Thinking to buy gravel bike, never had one before. At my country we have a lot of good gravel roads. I would mostly ride loops like long uphills from 5 to 15 km around 6 to 10 % and back.
Realy love the look and simplicity of 1x draviterain. Planning to buy bike w SRAM Rival1 front 38 and 11-42T in the back.
I am solid recreational rider. Would driveterain like that be proper for uphill riding?

Wonder how this would compare to something like the Bearclaw Beaux Jackson

1:43 What is he trying to say? "This bike isn't meant for speed it offers is just insane."

absurd price !! titanium frame with sns couplers is the best choice for that kind of price.... not to mention press fit bah... fyi marin four corners with fraction of that price can accomodate 29x2.1” tires
