LG 55-inch LM9600 First Look

My recent trip was to Korea and I got a glimpse of the LG 55-inch LM9600 at the LG Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. This TV totally caught me off guard so the video is quite amateurish. But I will have to say WOW. The 3D effect was quite a jump from the 2011 models by a mile. All I had to say was wow. The chrome look and the super thin bezel is making me think the new Cinema Screen design will win 2012 best TV of the year. I'll be giving you a new video on the hint hint OLED TV in the next few days.


* In the video I said the TV is a LW7800. This is incorrect, it is actually the LM9600.

I know you probably didn't have a lot of time to look at it, but did you see any blooming artifacts or any other issues?

@GosuGadget Thanks! What about viewing angles? Do we know if this is an IPS or a TN panel? Since it's passive 3D I'm lead to believe that it's IPS, however it's claiming a 480 Hz refresh rate. Hopefully that's just the backlight.

@GosuGadget Thanks for the reply. I am very interested in this TV. I came from a Samsung UN55D8000 (I returned it) and I had a lot of complaints, mainly flashlighting in corners and edge bloom. When I found out this new set from LG has a similar body design but full-array local dimming, I was intrigued.

When you review the LM9600 please beat this thing up. I'm very interested in blooming artifacts, panel uniformity (at 10%-50% grey-scale especially), viewing angles, black level, and input lag.

No. It has 3D Sound zooming which is even better along with the other factory presets.

@IBMProKGB Yeah. I was at the LG HQ and didn't realize they had this TV on display. I had to record it on a cellphone.

@Tempest261 No I didnt. Thats the thing. With the 2011 models, especially the 65" sizes (LW6500) blooming was visible at times up close, this TV i was very close and noticed none. The 3D was quite a jump. Best 3D I ever seen in my life (including cinemas). I have spoken to LG and I will get the 55LM9600 in a couple weeks for reviewing. I will post another video in depth and detail of the specs. Make sure you check out my site to for other updates.
