Angel's Blood by Nalini Singh. Went in for the romance but absolutely devoured the series for the actual plot. Serial killers, ancient beings, a war, and all this with actual character development.... excuse me while I clutch my pearls! But for real this series will always be my number one to recommend because I don't see a lot of people read them.
