What are Rational and Irrational Numbers?

Before we discuss rational and irrational numbers, let’s define first what integers are.
Take a look at this number line. A number line is a straight line with numbers place at equal interval or segments along its length. And that numbers we see in a number line is what we call the integer. On the right side of 0 is the positive integer and on the left side is the negative integer. So a proper definition of integer is that integer is like a whole number but includes negative numbers.

So that’s the quick review of integers. Now let’s discuss what rational number is.
A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction in the form p by q (p/q) where p and q are integers and q is not equal to zero. The fractions ½, ¾ or -7/12 are some examples of rational numbers. Noticed, that the numerator and denominator are integers and the denominator is not equal to zero.

Good work. how can I am sure I have reached to an irrational number because people do not posses super computers helping them to calculate trillions of decimal places? I will always be in confusion between terminating or non-terminating. Example in the case of PI they have calculated trillions of decimal places and based on the trillion of decimal places they claim that we have reached on an irrational number.
