You can try to use it with or without the pin (just the tab) so you can slide it on the longer plate. I will test this later today.

Original design was aluminum, but it was decided to go to a hard plastic so that it doesn't scratch the camera body. Plastic was the much better option in the end, not for price, but for overall functionality.

These are actually a bit longer than the ones i've previously showed with the D-ring. They needed to be a few millimeters longer to make up for the space of the plate.

Where can I find the longer screws if I wanted extras? Are there ones similar to the D-Rings you showed on the cage video?

Yes, should be no different. It basically just adds a lip on a quick release plate, and the screw can still slide within the slot to adjust.
