This is more than welcome. I hopeful that at least EU leaders still have some sence and recognize how far social media went with intruding people's privacy and at the same time letting false information spread like a virus.

"despite US preassure". What a bad take. The US pressure makes it more urgent.

The social media platform providers have to ensure they enforce EU law. If they don‘t they get fined. Its as easy as that.

Not despite presure from the US but because of it! They don’t Like it? Must be good for us!

From one tech entrepreneur to another: do better, make the effort, follow the EU rules, don’t pay fines, easy. If your business models are bad for EU consumers and thus hit these rules, that’s your problem, stop whining, deal with it like the rest of us clearly are able to.

Necessary; Europe doesn't need to live in an American fantasy land

Some people actually believe that free speech means a platform has to be provided for them.

This is about breaking up monopolies and maintain a free market, not more than that.

Even in Europe capitalism is not perfect, in fact it has inherent imperfections which can only be solved by out of the box measures: changing of system.

I'm reserving my judgement on this, if only because the DSA has been promised for more than a year now to be awesome, and so far, I still haven't seen any changes... Even Brasil has taken more action against disinformation than the EU, which is almost embarrassing...

NOTE: "pressure from the US" to not impose laws that protect EU citizens, not China, the owner of TicTik. US has always acted like an empire. Good that people are waking up to this.

I dunno, several EU countries jail people just for "hateful" speech online

Is it wrong that we set our rules on generally recognized high values? I suppose you are on the wrong side of history.

Don't trust any country, world needs more competition, world needs diversity and choice.

Virkkunen : Here in EuroNews English, YouTube, financed by EU Taxpayers, comments get deleted or shadow ban daily, we have to check every post to see if it's posted or deleted . On top of that, YouTube has a second censure tool : Viewers have to constantly refresh to see all the Comments, so many stay buried and not seen . Are you going to do something about it ? Or this is just a legislation against Elon Musk, Orban, Fico, etc.?
