Top 10 summer motorcycle pants 2024

Recently, we did a review of what we considered to be 10 of the best summer, motorcycle jackets. Our definition of a summer riding jacket being anything without a waterproof membrane. This being a necessity, obviously, to prevent overheating in warmer climes, or when you're working hard off road.

And so we thought it appropriate to follow up that review with one about riding trousers that are similarly suited to hot-weather riding.

Motorcycle trousers without a membrane are so much easier and more comfortable to wear than waterproof trousers. There is, of course, one problem with this form of attire on the bike. Basically, if it rains you are going to get wet.

The solution, of course, is to carry with you something like a pair of Scott waterproof, over-trousers. Now for some people this is an unimaginable inconvenience; a step too far. And indeed if you commute all year round, and like to tour in Wales, Scotland or Ireland then equipping yourself in this way may just not be for you.

But for most casual, weekend riders, rain is an unfortunate inconvenience, not a regular occurrence. Most weekend riders will look out of the window on a Sunday morning. If it's raining, they will go back to bed. What also has to be remembered is that, contrary to our unreliable memories, it does not rain all the time. On average in the summer in the UK, there will be some rain on just one day out of three.

The bottom line is that it just doesn't rain every day, and the reality for most of us is that if we find ourselves riding in the rain we have simply been caught out. And so we simply don't see the logic in always going out on a summer’s day prepared for an impending hurricane when, most of the time, we won't see a drop of rain.

I bought a pair of Rokker Chinos (navy blue) from Motolegends 2.5 years ago... These became my go to option any weather! When it rains I use Scotts over these, but when its dry I use these all year round. These trousers been with me in Alps, Pyrenees and Sardinia. Yes these are not super cool in the hottest weather - but still survivable! Only slight disappointment is that the colour deteriorated a lot due to exposure to Sun. Other than that- highly recommended 👌🏻

I have Klim Switchback. Hot in Arizona weather. Marrakesh pants flow more air.

How does the Rokka Chino fit? Is it a straight or slim cut, a mid or low rise? Does the waist fit tight or more generously? Thank you!

Awesome video! Very comprehensive and well presented. I have a pair of Klim Switchback pants and I always wear them. I do take waterproofs just in case. They are comfortable and look smart. I have had them for three years. BTW this video did not come up on my subscription page but on my home page. I am a subscriber . Maybe a YouTube thing? Best!

You mean trousers. It’s quite simple, you’re British, running a British clothes shop. We call trousers trousers and pants pants regardless of Americans calling trousers pants. We wear pants under our trousers.

I tell you. A pair of Rokker Legend jeans ( love the super quality BTW) I got from you guys are Hot as Hell in the summer here in the states. It is about 80-90F and I'm a sweaty mess after a ride. I gotta find something else.

You were doing well calling trousers trousers until you got to the Marakesh 😞

Any thoughts about the John Doe single layer jeans. Nice material, triple A rating, loads of different smart fits and good pricing compared to the top of notch Roker.

I am searching the market for maximum pants/trousers versatility (with possible layering of course), so to be honest I am really confused about the really hot weather situations (above 35 degrees Celsius) as the best ventilated option here is Klim Marrakesh and technically it needs to be even less vented than the Baja S4. I do use the Held Carese/Tuono combination for most of the year but yet it works up to 28-30 degrees and even when I switch to fully meshed pants there is not enough air above 35. Anybody with an idea what would be doing the job?

P.S. I ride V strom 650 and it looks that the air protection in the lower part of the body is quite substantial.

Jeans are not always acceptable when you get to work so trousers that look smart casual are great for the office

My Klim Marrakesh easily go over my Daytona Road Star GTX boots, but no way will they go over my Alpinestars SMX 6 V2 GTX boots.
