Have you ever wondered how plants drink water? Plants absorb water and nutrients through the xylem: a tissue made up of thin tubes located just below the surface of the plant's stems. The molecules in this tissue attract water molecules from the soil so that the water is pulled upwards. This process is called capillary action. In this BYJU'S Experiment #short we will be visualizing the same.

The water moves up in the xylem via the force of transpirational pull as well as root pressure.
𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗹 is created because of the evaporation of water from the leaves of the plant.
𝗥𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 is created by roots to push the water upwards.

- Transpiration Pull: It is the process in which a force of pulling is produced inside the xylem tissue. This force causes the upward movement of the water column in the xylem tissue.
Informative session👍👍👍😊😊

Root pressure, in plants, force that helps to drive fruits upward into the water-conducting vessels (Xylem).
Thank you so much for this experiment 🌸😊

The movement of water in the xylem is explained by the cohesion-tension theory. According to this theory, the water moves up in the xylem via the force of transpiration which is created because of the evaporation of water from the leaves of the plant. So, the correct answer is 'transpiration pull'.

A transpiration pull could be simply defined as a biological process in which the force of pulling is produced inside the xylem tissue. This force helps in the upward movement of water into the xylem vessels. In this process, loss of water in the form of vapours through leaves are observed.

Roots pressure helps to move water upward in plants 🥰🥰 thanks for this video

Cohesive force between the water molecules and adhesive force between the water molecules and the walls of xylem .
Overall movement is because of suction force and vaccum created due to transpiration. This is called transpirational pull.

Pressure of roots helps it to move upwards and also xylem conducts water N minerals in uni directional ..only in upward direction

Root pressure is the force in root region that helps to drive water or sap upwards into tracheary elements of xylem. Water is absorbed through the root hairs from the soil. During low transpiration there is no transpiration pull that time root pressure increases and water moves upwards in xylem elements.
