DO NOT BUY THESE CARDS for yourself or as gifts. More and more retailers are blocking them and you'll be left with an unspendable balance.

I remember a couple of years back when I was able to buy from literally anywhere with these things. then, slowly, they started to block retailers. They started as the greatest thing ever for people without bank accounts, and now they're just very expensive plastic rectangles. Very inconvenient.

I think the whole gift card thing needs to end. Either that or it should be illegal to block them as a cash purchase. They should be made to be a legal form of tender and denying them should be made illegal

It’s weird considering I’ve used them so many times and these work much better than the prepaid card stuff. I tried ordering a gift for my friend today and teeturtle keeps denying me :’))

I have used gift cards for online purchases many times, however, recently my store switched to Vanilla cards..these don't work for me. It's frustrating and a waste of money. I would suggest looking for cards that are NOT Vanilla.

Another reason is subscription. You might buy 1 month subscription but when the process it the process 1 year, you only get charged monthly but they check to see if they can keep billing you. I tried this with Visa gift for that exact reason. It's a scam on retailer's part as they don't want you using car that can be billed the next month. Then you make as difficult as possible to unsubscribe. So they want trap into monthly that can take months to end if not years. I had one that took 3 year to stop as it was one a year renewal for America's Test Kitchen.

I’ve ordered off of eBay twice with my $100 Vanilla Card and had no problems whatsoever. Then literally just a week later I can’t even buy anything with it online.

Avoid Vanilla cards if you only going to use for online purchases, they recently changed and now, Vanillas wont work for online purchases, only at retail stores if your lucky.

Buying gift cards like Vanilla e.g. from stores and supermarkets was just like you're wasting your money and aiding scammers to get rich out of this scammed products. The auhorities across the globe must do something about this issue.

They want a billing address, but no billing address is available. they say a billing address comes when the card is purchased. but it's not there, just a phone number and site that goes on the fritz when you visit it.😢

Son purchased a Visa PrePaid SecureSpend card recently. In trying to use it online, it tells him "your authentication details have been rejected by your bank."

When I got it, I used it and paid for something. I tried the next day it didn’t work and it said 3ds varification error. I checked the balance and it said I have money still there.
