For anyone wondering, I recently took the CBEST for Math online because COVID-19 shut down the testing centers in my area so PBT (paper-based testing) was excluded. Although this video does an excellent job explaining the types of questions that are shown throughout the exam, unfortunately the proctor monitoring the exam prohibited scratch paper during the exam.

I went on to not even complete the entire exam because the Pearson emblem ended up blocking some of the questions' information that extended to the end of the screen which blocked me from reading necessary information. Also, not using scratch paper was a huge thing to me, they prompted me to use my head instead for very lengthy and complex word questions.

I want to sub very bad, but if they continue this sort of practice I urge anyone looking to sign up not even bother wasting their money. Their tech help was terrible, rules were too, and was not treated appropriately for the whole session.

In short, don't waste your money.

I am shocked at how easy this is! I got almost all questions right and didn't even practice at all. NO geometry level math yet, just simple basic math. I have my test for next wednsday but i'll try to re schedule it for thursday or friday of this week and get it done. So far, its very simple stuff.

Also, thank you commenters for the tip to NOT take this portion online proctored. I was going to do that. just switched to testing center.

I just took the online proctored version and I would NOT recommend it for this subtest. You cannot use scratch paper, only a text box to take notes; no drawing. The online reading and writing should be fine, but trying to do long division or multiplication all in your head can be super difficult. Good luck!

Maria I took the test 4 times and did not pass. Max I got was 29 so I basically need 8 points to pass. I have not taken math for over 35 years. What do you suggest. Do you give one on one to tutoring. How much do you charge.

hi, for #14 how did you know to subtract 29, 000- (-36, 000) instead of -36, 000-29, 000

Hello there, I had some doubts about some questions, for number 17, why do you just subtract the numbers 12-(-15), why don't you subtract all of the three highest(positive numbers) from the lowest temperatures? Also what section does this fall under? I have the CBEST book, so I was wondering if I could take a look at the chapter. Also for the last question number 20, you mentioned that we need to find the common denominator, when I first looked at the fractions, I thought the common denominator would be like 24, that would not be wrong right, you would just have to simplify it further to get the correct answer?
