I feel bad for cis gender athletes. They are held to such strict guidelines by their sports, and are often accused of being trans. Even though they are not, they become targets of hate. As a trans individual myself, it really makes me sad to know that there are people with great power and influence that lean into hate so happily. Nobody deserves that.

Hello everyone, funny little guy from Italy here. I've heard this story too from talk shows, and my parents were kinda already buying into the "man beating women in women's sport" narrative. I'm personally convinced that our athlete cast this curse upon herself by surrendering. It's a boxing match what were we expecting? Anyway, this is an example of how transphobia is actually just hate, it doesn't protect anyone and it's just hurting everybody, especially people who aren't involved. Peace out, and remember kids, fight the power till you win!

hey there! this isn’t something i’d normally comment about but i’m extremely scared for me as a trans person and my friends who are also trans, so at our school someone in our gaming/dnd club told us there is a new rule in our school in which if a student is called by a different name than their legal one then the teacher has to report it to the office and they call your parents, now this is bad for me and a lot of others because we come from a bible belt town of TN, and my parents don’t support lgbtq, and definitely wouldn’t be happy to hear i am trans, i’m not sure what to do, any help at all would be really helpful here! i am extremely nervous for the up coming school year now :/

I had to check up on this topic recently despite not following the olympics because a family member got pulled into the anti trans rhetoric. Thank you for covering this topic, I would love to come out as genderflux to my family but some of them have a little ways to go when it comes to gender norms and clinging to "tradition".
