Byju's To Lay Off 2500 People| shorts

Byju’s will be laying off 2,500 employees in the next six months, reports Moneycontrol. The world’s most valuable edtech startup announced in a statement on Wednesday that it will “rationalise” 5% of its 50,000-strong workforce across the product, technology, media, and content departments in a “phased manner”. This move, alongside an operational rejig of its acquired firms, would help it “achieve profitability in the defined time frame of March 2023”, said Byju’s India business CEO Mrinal Mohit. Byju’s recorded a loss of ₹4,588 crore in FY21 and hasn’t disclosed its profit-loss figure for FY22 yet. In June this year, the company had also let go of hundreds of full-time and contractual employees. Meanwhile, Byju’s plans to hire 10,000 teachers for both its Indian and international operations.
