Bringing Drones into Turkey

Bringing drones intoTurkey and getting permission to fly one is almost impossible. Depending on the weight of your drone, it can be difficult to get all the necessary permits in Turkey. In addition to register for all drones weighing 500 grams or more, you must have a drone pilots license and comply with local laws that may require further applications. Mick Scarsbrook explains the process.

I used to watch your channel when I lived in Dorset and now I'm living in Spain. This year the new drone rules start in the EU and the Spanish site is no better at the moment like yours. I have a selection of drones and the new mini 2 will be a much better to fly on holidays but you still have to register as a operator but like you it seems you have to be a resident of the EU. Passed my A1/A3 test, just waiting for my certificate as an operator. With the new rules in the EU, you have to register what ever size or weight drone fitted with a camera. Interesting times with new laws around the world with drones. Many thanks for your video - stay safe :)

Very informative, Mick and Trudie. I started watching a few of your latest ones and they are quite interesting, particularly for me as you offer valuable insights in familiar British style. Keep up the good work, mate. Who knows we might bump into each other in Turkey.

Planning to go into Turkey in a few days... Have a drone license from USA, but this seems so difficult. Wouldn't want to be fined at all and it just adds more headache to travel. Thanks for your helpful information!

I flew my 249g drone there in March 2020. Had no issues but avoided crowded and restricted areas.

Thank you, Mick, very informative. I brought my mini drone in but it sounds way too risky and complex to even try to fly it here.

hahahaha mick amca, i was also thinking of buying a drone from abroad, then i saw this fr03 and other forms sh*t, then just decided to buy a 249g. after that, i saw your video; even as a turkish citizen, all these procedures seem exhausting, especially with turkish public servants... i cannot imagine as a foreigner what you got through :D

I am probably among the first to get a permit through the web site. Back then, they hadn't yet invented a license. They just gave me a QR code that I simply printed on waterproof paper and taped it on top of my Mavic Pro. When I have to fly it where there is possibility of trouble, up until now I simply filled a form and applied with my permit number. I must also say that these last 4 years, I haven't flown it.

500 grams? In the US it's 250 grams and yet there are guns everywhere. :)
