CHECK OUT CARS & BIDS

The BMW i3 is a cool little electric hatchback -- but it's not worth $50,000. Today I'm reviewing the i3 to show you why it isn't worth what BMW is charging -- and I'm going to show you all the quirks and features of this i3 with the range extender.

As soon as you said it had a carbon fiber chassis BAM! That's where the 50k came from!

As a happy i3 owner in Finland, a couple of remarks: the acceleration is as fast as with BMW 740i 1999 and the cost of maintenance is very cheap, or at least in Finland where gas is very expensive compared to US and electricity is cheap, let's say 20 € / 100 km to 1.7 € / 100 km)
Used i3s have a very cheap price and the latest version has a 120 Ah battery with the twice of the capacity of the first i3 model.
To own a car with aluminum/carbon/recycled material I don't see much of an option in the market. In 30 years I believe i3 will be an icon.

Tesla Model 3 just entred the market in the EU in 2019 while i3 has been available from 2014. It's like comparing computers with 5 years of difference in general availability.

Yesterday I saw one of these for the first time. I was driving my friend to his dad’s work after school and it pulled out in front of us and I impulsively just said “what the hell is that?”

6:43 - For whatever reason, lmao! Are you kidding me, Doug? Less rolling resistance.

I’ll keep my old Prius. It was only 4500$ and it’s very reliable

Cramped, claustrophobic back seats, lower mileage range than cheaper competitors and you can't even roll down the back windows and that's the future is it?

You state that you don't think the i3 is worth 50 grand but then you state it's the cheapest car with a carbon fibre chassis. Dont you think the carbon fibre chassis has something to do with the 50 grand sticker?

I love my 2015 BMW i3Rex as a daily driver for my commute that ranges from 30-70 miles round trip, depending on errands. I plug it in to a standard 15 amp wall socket at night and wake up to a full charge. When I need to go further the engine kicks in and I go where I need (So no city/suburbs range anxiety). It's not a 70mph highway car (it can do it but that burns electrons too quickly) but in neighborhood, stop and go, and city traffic it is a silent missile doing what it was designed for. Plus nothing can beat me off the line to 45mph. People are always looking at me like I have something unique, which it is. I got it as a two year old off lease for 1/2 the price of new with just 5k miles on it. I have driven it about 11k in the last 11 months and used 7 gallons of gas. Until a used model 3 actually arrives in my area at a reasonable price(maybe 3 years) this is the best electric car for my garage.

Looks like it could be an Autobot (Transformers).

I did a test drive last year on a lease return. Positives: great front/rear room, good acceleration. Negatives: Low EV range. I didn't care for the highway ride - too jittery. Rear windows don't open. Rear passengers can't get out unless the front person unbuckles. Small cargo volume. As far a interior/exterior, nobody that came with me liked it at all. The Bolt EV kills it on the lower side price and range as well as the Model 3. My Model 3 arrives in two weeks.

Before this video, I didn't know what an i3's turn signals looked like because BMW drivers don't use them.

I always thought that blue colour on the front grill was the protective film that you peel off when the car goes through the pre-delivery inspection. It seems I was wrong.

L'option "caméra de recul" existe ainsi que plusieurs autres options dont n'est pas équipé le modèle que vous avez essayé.

I got to drive one yesterday. Pretty fun, the acceleration is great. The rear doors are just stupid though, the front seatbelt is mounted on the rear door. So when you're in the rear you can't exit if the driver is still buckled up, and you can't buckle up in the front if the rear doors are open. Looks good, doesn't work.
