Making JFET as a distortion clipper

How to bend and solder a JFET transistor to be used as a distortion clipping device. Using a 2N5457, we are soldering the Drain and Source together for one end and the Gate is the other end.

I had to fullscreen this vid to figure it out. He is holding the jfet with the flat side toward the camera for reference on which side to join the 2 legs together. Also when he says the joined pair goes in the striped marked terminal/side/marking he is referring to the 'K' cathode side of the terminal which is indicated by the 'line' side of the terminal marking. It looks like a triangle with a 'line' at its point. The 'line' is the 'stripe/cathode side. This is not easy to figure out for electronics noobs like me but I did and it works. I put in 2 jfets in my Fender frontman to replace its LED clippers and it worked! And it sounds much better IMO now than the leds.

Can you replace led clipping diodes with these without further modification?
