DHCP reservations are used similar to static IP Addresses. The DHCP server is programmed that when a certain MAC address shows up, that MAC address is always assigned the same IP Address. The client is configured for DHCP configuration.
This video is made using Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1.

Thanks! I was able to set the reservation and perform 'ipconfig /renew' on each machine, and they reset to the address I assigned them in the DHCP reservations!

Can't get it to work on windows 10.. Both server and client are on same network/subnet, and MAC is entered without : (colon) as in video.

ipconfig /renew on client didn't nothing... it continued to pick up old ip. Computer suffix at command line wasn't even .domain so it wasn't talking to server anyway it seems..

Client is DHCP assigned. Server still shows "Reservation (Inactive)" is this a clue it didn't work ?
