110 Single Roller gun Setup| Unrolling the Roller

In this spearfishing episode I will go over my favorite 110 single roller gun setups, as well as going over what I think we should be prioritizing when it comes to all roller gun setups.

What is the most important thing when it comes to spearguns?
Is it? Power & Range, Accuracy or Handling?

My hope for this tutorial, is not only
that you get setup up your 110 roller really well.
But that you will have a better understanding of the elements
that make a roller gun work.

Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for this roller video series, i do enjoy it a lot and it's my favorite !!

Before roller spearguns setups really was abracadabra for the most of the spearos, but thanks to you all the secrets are being now revealed !

I do have a 110 and 120 RA carbon witch I love a lot so I can't wait for the 120 and 130 videos, double roller and invert.

You are the roller guru !

Again thanks for your time and effort and sharing this wonderful videos!

Loved this video, very informative! This 'unrolling the roller' series is epic! Can't wait for the 1.2m and possibly even the 1.3m videos. And then there is always the double rollers and such! Exciting stuff

Hey Chris, thanks for all the great tips and advice! Just changed m 110 conventional to a 110 roller with the same set up as the "Load Assist 110 Roller".
Just wondering if instead of having a 150cm 7.5mm shaft, what if it was a 140cm shaft. Would it still be pretty accurate? I noticed some Pathos Roller guns have a shorter shaft as well (Where I got my idea)

Anyway, huge mahalo and thanks Chris! You save me a lot of headache with these informational videos!

Hey Chris, grateful for all the testing, investigating and sharing you do.

I’d love your input on a setup I’m refining, I have a 110 double roller made by torelli in Australia.
It came with 16mm bands on it, set up to be hand loaded. I’m wanting to power them up to be load assist loaded,
Usually it shoots a 1.5mm 8mm drop barb shaft at big fat southern bluefin tuna in ~10-18C water.
Do you think 2x 16mm at full pretension would overpower the shaft? What length and pretension would you go?
It already had a bit of kick when fire, and it’s a heavy gun. Carbon but barely neutrally buoyant with just rubbers on and no spear

Im currently in indo in 28c water and wanting to put a single 14mm hand load rubber on and shoot 6.5 and 7mm shafts. I’ll build this to your standard specs. Looking forward to feeling how it shoots

Ay Chris, awesome clip!. Trust you’ll be be providing a comparison between roller vs inverted roller which seems to be the trend at the moment?

By any chance you’re gonna do a comparison pros and cons between single roller vs double rollers vs inverted rollers? 😅

Hi Chris, great gear and advice as usual. Ive refered to your vidoes alot over the years

What are your options on single vs double wrap for the 110 roller?

Thought on 14mm bands with 7.5mm shaft, 110 aluminuim barrel?

Many thanks

Hi, great video. I'm looking to set up my first roller (110 with 7mm shaft) but i didn't allow for the mvd trigger to be set so far back on the handle, was going to put a 2nd flopper on but would need a 160 shaft to do this. Has anyone had trouble with accuracy on a 110, 14mm bands with a 160 shaft? Thanks very much guys

Thanks for the great video. I have a Pathos sniper roller 95 that came with 2 16mm bands (1roller 1 kicker). The guy at the dive shop Talk me into buying 14mm bands. Still too cold to get into the pool and try them. I will also take your advice and try just one roller band. Thanks again for the great video

Great video, very clear explanations.
Question: having a thicker rubber in a thin shaft (16mm for a 6mm shaft) will decrease the accuracy? What are the cons on that set up? My gun is a 110 with a 120 shaft
Thanks a lot

Hey Chris, I just noticed all your roller vids have the Vector 2 handle without a loading butt, but most Rob Allen’s have one. Most people who would be changing from a conventional set up to a roller will have the loading butt. Do you recommend taking it out?

Loads of info, thanks for you a specific formula to calculate band force at various tensions for 14, 16, 18, 20mm bands etc

I've upgraded my Beuchat Marlin to a carbon roller after watching your videos. If you get time, could you do a rubber review on standard vs. small id holes in the rubber.

Hey mate
Great video
Can I ask what does ‘110cm’ mean in this rob Allan 110 14mm setup?
Is it just tube length?
Overall length?
Or something else?
Help much appreciated
