Mexico City metro overpass collapse kills 23 - BBC News

At least 23 people have been killed and dozens injured after a metro overpass collapsed in Mexico City while a train was travelling on it, officials have said.

Several train carriages plunged to the ground, crushing at least one car, which was on a busy road underneath.

Rescue workers and firefighters are still searching for survivors.

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said the cause of the accident was still being investigated, but it appeared a girder had given way on the overpass.

As a Mexican I have to say; wasn't an accident, but a negligence. Since the beginning of the project, it have had lots of reports of mal function. Even more, at 2017 September earthquake, the structure was damaged. Many times the neighbors spoke out about cracks on columns and unleveled rails, but the administration choose ignored them.

They should investigate the construction procedure to avoid any further accidents, if they have done other constructions in the country, there is a possibility that those are also not safe.
