Even he didn’t like the world outside. Thankfully he is safe and sound and nothing tragic happened to him on his little adventure.

"We will [...] try to identify how he got out of that space."

I suspect penguins.

He was ready to go man he said I'm spending the night out in the real world or two nights that is lol hopefully he gets back into his space safe and sound but in my true heart of hearts I know he belongs out in a wild but he can't because we've destroyed his habitat.

I'm not sure if it also applies to red pandas (to an extent), but regular pandas cost 1 million dollars a year to rent from China.
Losing a panda may trigger a bit more than a cute news story.

I hate how people just hate on zoos. Modern zoos do a lot of important work. They have breeding programs for endangered animals. They do research on how to better protect and help these animals in the wild and captivity. They ensure the best quality care for their animals and provide enrichment. Those animals are probably living a healthier happier life than most of us. The real enemy is private zoos (roadside petting zoos etc) and exotic pets that are not held to the same standard. The exotic pet trade is a million dollar industry that relays heavily on poaching. Many of these animals die to poor care or are eventually rescued BY zoos and their affiliates. Almost all animals in reputable zoos were either born in captivity or rescued and cannot return to the wild. Considering the fact that many animals are heavily at risk due to dwindling habitats zoos may become some of the last havens for endangered animals if nothing is done. Sorry for the rant but so many people hate on zoos acting like they’re the steel cages of the 1800s. Zoos do so much good and important work and I people should do more research !

I don’t agree with animals being kept enclosed for the sake of being gawked at. But, if it was born in captivity, I wonder if it would have survived. It’s a bit of a double edged sword.
I hope he enjoyed his short burst of freedom while he had it.

From now on their will be leg breaking jaw style trap ‘deterrents’ around the ‘space’ plus anti personnel mines near the spot where he got out, just to...you know, discourage him. 😆
