The film is based on real events, the prototype of the "Crow" is a sniper and scout from Horlivka named Mykola Voronin. He actually had 3 higher educations, was a pacifist, and actually looks a lot like the actor who played the main role. If you google it, you can find articles from 2015 where he talks about himself in various interviews. Also, you can see his real photos of that time. By the way, this actor, Aldoshin Pavlo, is now a military man, and is in the territory of hostilities. In general, the story of this film is amazing. The visual series very subtly conveys Ukrainian nature, combining it with human drama and the tension of combat operations.

Just watched. It's actually quite decent. For a war film it feels quite unusually...quiet. One might expect nationalistic rhetoric and demonization, though there actually isn't much of those here. The music and the many (breath-taking) shots of natural scenery bring an interesting, peaceful contrast to the few hot battle scenes. The protagonist's hippie beginning seems tied to this overarching theme of tranquillity. Before this film, I didn't even know that hippie is a thing in Ukraine.

This is obviously not a sequel to the direct to dvd movies. The last one did end on a cliffhanger. Which I would like to see resolved in another movie. But literally anyone can use Sniper in their title. Its a common word 😁😁
