Many profitable corporations pay no federal taxes at all, even as so many Americans struggle in the pandemic. Congress is considering some reform, but MSNBC’s Ari Melber documents how Congress is debating based on terms defined by the Trump-era cuts and Reagan-era corporate rates -- despite Democrats winning back both elected branches of government. Melber highlights how companies like Nike and FedEx pay no taxes and benefit from policies shaped through a campaign finance system that benefits corporations

These corporations are "citizens" when it comes to political campaigns but some kind of other entity when it comes to paying taxes. It's time for "citizen's united" to be remedied by congress. We know they won't because the same people who would benefit from the companies donations are the ones we would need to change it.

When so many workers are struggling and having to choose between paying their rent or eating, it's obscene that CEOs are making millions upon millions. You can't convince me that these CEOs are worth that kind of money. And these corporations are paying zero tax? This is insane.

The earnings and taxes situation in the US is an absolute obscenity. I'm so sick of politicians, and the wealthy setting up the future for themselves and their spawn. Let them be blessed with what they truly deserve.

A Democrat kid would charge 10 cents for a cup of lemonade and share 5 cents with her mother for the ingredients and her help.
A republican kid would charge $1, 000 for a cup of lemonade and give their mother a promissory note for 2 cents a cup.

Raise those rates back to 40 % and force them to have corporate headquarters in America if they want to do business with us.

Doing business in the U.S. should include paying taxes, time for a change of venue.

Ari -- you've done a great job once again explaining a complicated issue... but if the receiving end isn't able or willing to absorb/perceive, then I'm afraid it's wasted. The ignorant have the upper hand... keep going though, and thanks!

Remember when "no taxation without representation" was a thing? Today it seems more like representation without taxation when it comes to these large corporations.
